So, if you’re looking to upgrade your routine in ways that will make you happier & balanced, then keep reading! Time to step into a higher version of yourself; let’s take a deep breath, ready?
Developing A Healthy Relationship with Food
Ever since I was young, I always had a high metabolism & struggled with gaining weight. I was the same weight for a very long time & I was so discouraged. I even tried overeating to gain weight. The good thing was, I was always encouraged to stop eating when I felt full & I had a pretty good relationship with food.
That being said, I concluded that it is all about what you think about the foods you are eating. I started blessing my food before I ate it & that helped with how much I ate & how I felt afterward. Blessing your food makes you more conscious of how much you are eating & you are more apt to listen to your body. Everyone has a different relationship with food, so this practice might be hard to implement at first.
Remember, food is fuel! Eat when you are hungry & eat foods that make you feel good. If you really want to like a certain food, but you’re sure it always makes you feel gross after. Flip the narrative. I recommend sending love & positive energy to your food before you eat. Try it, you won’t be disappointed! Whatever you do, be kind to yourself & remember if food takes up space in the physical world, then it will always take up space in your body as well.
Meditation
Not only does meditation relax you, but it helps you gain a new perspective. Going deep with meditation can help your ego settle & let your light soar. Meditating at least once a week will bring you a sense of grounding & help rejuvenate you. You can start small by doing 5-10 minute guided meditations & work your way up to longer ones if you choose. Body Movement Each Day
Moving your body each day is so key! Go outside, stretch, do a workout, do yoga, anything that involves moving your body! Activity helps stimulate the brain & you become more appreciative of your body & what it does for you. Your body is the vessel that helps you perform your favorite activities.
I encourage you to go out in nature, go for a walk, even do some stretches if you don’t really feel like moving much. I have found I have fewer chronic headaches & less stress if I choose to move my body each day. My muscles are also less sore! Creating movement creates energy & heat within the body which activates the brain. I find that working out in the morning helps me get motivated about my day & after each workout, I recite my affirmations & intentions for the day. Whatever time of day you choose to workout, make sure it’s intentional, feels good to you, & is actually making a difference in your everyday life!
Get 8-10 Hours of Sleep Each Night
I know some people can function off of 6-7 hours of sleep. If that works for you & you feel your best with that, then great! If you have been feeling sluggish & tired a lot, try getting 8-10 hours of sleep per night. If you don’t have that luxury, at least take breaks during the day & just simply rest your eyes.
Not only have there been countless studies on the benefits of sleeping at least 8 hours per night, but it is also a proven fact that we are more prepared & ready to take on each day when we are well-rested. Keep in mind, we are conditioned to believe we have to work at least 8 hours per day to be “successful” but that is not true! Take breaks & listen to your body! Guys, imagine only having to worry about your body while you’re at work or doing something “productive.” Absolutely not! We have to care for our bodies all the time! No matter if we are choosing to sleep longer than usual or doing a hard-core workout, we have to look after ourselves.
Did you know getting the proper amount of sleep can make you happier? Yep.
Cut Down Screen Time
I have chronic migraines & having too much screen time can really put a damper on my mood & on my body. Putting time limits on apps & being conscious of how much you are scrolling is key! Most of the apps that take our time are social media. We are not even aware of what we are doing on these apps for hours at a time.
I encourage you to become more aware of how much time you are spending on your phone. I have an Apple iPhone & I can physically put time limits on my apps, but if you are not able to do that, then set a timer or whatever makes you conscious of the time.
Self-Love Affirmations Each Morning
If you are not loving yourself & your body, you need to start! Love yourself & express gratitude towards yourself & your body each day. Think of how much you have been through! Embrace all the scars & trauma as a testament to your innate strength. Accept it all & then let it go, stop letting those thoughts consume you! It is a part of you, we are all healing! Be aware of how you are speaking to yourself & what your thoughts are when you look in the mirror or think about yourself. Start complimenting yourself. Be the love you yearn for from someone else. I know you have heard this before but, you can’t love someone else if you don’t love yourself first.
I like to say my affirmations to myself when I am in the shower, embracing my whole body. I like to say it when I am doing my skincare & just looking in the mirror at myself. It helps me recognize who I am as a soul- on the inside.
Accepting & loving yourself will open all the doors to healing inside of you. Be free & be confident in the body you are in! If you are having trouble thinking of positive affirmations to say to yourself, think of all the things you have wanted to hear your significant other or your crush say directly to you. Date yourself ;)
Cleansing Showers
The next time you are showering, I want you to think of the water cleansing you from all the toxins & negativity that no longer serves you. Wash away the negativity & the thoughts that are holding you back. Let the water take it & wash it away.
Envision the water cleansing your soul & body like your highest self would cleanse your soul. I like to see my water sparkling when I visualize the cleansing process. The sensation of letting the water fall on you & being in a fully relaxed & accepting state- an amazing feeling!
The Use of Essential Oils
Essential Oils are definitely essential in my routine! There are so many of them that help with certain sicknesses, soreness, anything you can think of. Essential oils can be rubbed into the skin (with a carrier oil), put in a bath, put in an oil diffuser, or even put in lotion. I mainly use essential oils to prevent sickness & muscle soreness. I also use them to relax & relieve my mind. They have roller sticks of essential oils if you need something on-the-go, which is really useful!
Cleansing Your Space
I encourage you to cleanse your space using sage (smudging) or even incense when cleansing small places. While you are cleansing, make sure you are making your intentions aware of the universe. Focus on letting go of the negative energy & create space for positivity & prosperity! I like to cleanse my space every 2-3 weeks. That is usually when I like to manifest new projects & invite new energy into my space as well.
Journal Each Day
Journaling each day has helped me become more relaxed. I can center myself & express gratitude and/or release any negativity that no longer serves me. The amazing thing about journaling is that it’s personal. Only you can see, so you can really be transparent.
If nothing is coming to you when you sit down to journal, ask yourself how you are feeling & maybe how your day or week has been. Usually, when you start, the pen just flows. Let yourself be open & don’t judge your thoughts or emotions.
Implementing these life-changing wellness tips into my life was the best decision I’ve ever made! I am truly at peace & much happier each day when I am practicing these activities. Do yourself a favor & try them to upgrade your lifestyle & your mood!
